On the 13 June 2019, Mr Wayne Thomson from Rural Aid Australia addressed students at the morning assembly and explained how hard the farmers have to work and their struggles with the drought. In an effort to support our farmers and promote the school value of practising care and compassion, the staff and students initiated a fundraising event and $20 000 was donated to Rural Aid, ‘Buy a Bale’ initiative. The school received a token of appreciation from Mr Wayne Thomson which will go on display in the school. One student stated, “He really made me realise how a drought has affected not just farmers but their families and community as well. I think about how fortunate some of us are, most of us can easily take water for granted and raising some money was the least we could help with”. Al Noori Muslim School is committed to assisting both local and international aid initiatives.
